Better public transport

Under Sadiq Khan, London has come to a standstill

Bus services have been cut by 22 million miles, lift closures and slow progress on accessible stations have left disabled passengers stranded and a botched expansion of ULEZ left too many Londoners without the time or support to adapt.

My plan of action

My pledge to you

As Liberal Democrat Mayor, I will focus on:

  • Improving public transport in Outer London
  • Prioritise accessibility and safety across the network
  • Making ULEZ more fair
  • Driving efficiency, improving reliability and cutting journey times

This means:

  • Developing a new Transport Plan for Outer London – to speed up our transition to lower carbon transport.
  • Increasing the number of green river crossings in the East of London, including restoring the Woolwich Ferry to a full and reliable service.
  • Running a pilot scheme to make the Santander cycle hire scheme free to use every Sunday.
  • Pressuring the government and working with the wider public and private sector to ensure HS2 goes to Euston.
  • Working to bring the London Overground to Sutton and exploring extending the South East Overground to London Bridge.
  •  Expanding upon the Superloop scheme - particularly focused on reaching further into outer London boroughs.
