Patrick Stillman announced as Liberal Democrat candidate for Holborn and St Pancras by-election

Patrick has lived in Camden for the past five years, moving to the area after graduating from the University of Kent. He works in compliance for a financial payments company based in Holborn.

Earlier this year, Patrick was elected as a Liberal Democrat councillor for West Hampstead ward, taking the seat from Labour. Since then, Patrick has been helping to hold Labour to account on crime, anti-social behaviour and tackling rough sleeping.

He first stood for the party in the 2023 South Hampstead by-election, where he secured an 8.3% swing to the Liberal Democrats. Patrick is also the outgoing chairperson of Camden Liberal Democrats and saw the local party through a campaign that saw a 150% increase in the party’s representation on the council: from four councillors to ten.

Commenting on his selection, Patrick Stillman said:

"I'm proud to have been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Holborn and St Pancras. Voters here deserve better than a Labour government in chaos, or a Green Party using this seat to prop up its leader's ambitions.

"We have a distinct, confident liberal message - on housing, on safety, on giving young Londoners like me a fair shot at building a life here - and I'm going to make that case on every doorstep between now and October 8th."

Patrick says the by-election will be fought on the issues that matter most to residents: the cost of living and chronic housing insecurity across the constituency; the future of the Euston and HS2 regeneration scheme; safety on the borough's streets and in its nightlife areas, including the long-running rough sleeping and antisocial behaviour around Warren Street; and trust in politicians after a turbulent few months for the constituency.

Patrick and the Liberal Democrats will show the voters of Holborn and St Pancras what a committed local champion really looks like - Keir Starmer walked away after being dethroned from power by Labour, while Zack Polanski is standing to cement his own leadership of the Green Party. The people of Holborn and St Pancras, and the country, deserve better than politicians treating the constituency as a personal platform. Liberal Democrats like Patrick will keep serving residents on the issues that matter, not their own ambitions.
