Lift London: Drawing on Diversity
One of the things that makes London so special is its people.
Our city has always attracted those looking for opportunity – people who come to study, build careers, start businesses or create a better life for themselves and their families.
This week Lift London spoke to Kevin, who moved to London from Liverpool 14 years ago. During that time, he's watched the city continue to grow and change.
For Kevin, London's diversity isn't something to be feared – it's one of its greatest strengths.
He believes that people from different backgrounds, cultures and experiences help make London a more creative, innovative and welcoming place. Whether it's the businesses they create, the skills they bring or the communities they build, London benefits from being a city that attracts talent from across the UK and around the world.
It's one of the reasons London remains one of the world's leading economic centres.
Of course, diversity also means making sure everyone has the opportunity to succeed. That means creating communities where people feel they belong, where neighbours know one another and where differences are seen as something to value rather than divide us.
Listening to Kevin reminded me that London's success has never come from everyone being the same. It's come from bringing together people with different ideas, experiences and perspectives, all contributing to the city we share.
That's something worth protecting and celebrating.
Lift London is listening to Londoners, sharing their stories and making sure these challenges aren't ignored.
But to reach more people and make a bigger impact, we need your help.
Whether you can share your own story, volunteer your time, become a supporter, make a donation or simply help spread the word, you'll be helping us shine a light on the issues affecting Londoners every day.
