Budget proves Labour has “abandoned” London
Responding to the Government’s Budget, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for London, Luke Taylor MP said:
“Today’s Budget proves that Labour has abandoned London. With the highest costs in the country, this Budget should have been an opportunity to offer a lifeline to struggling families, businesses and young people across the capital.
“Instead Labour has let London down yet again. The Government has refused to fund vital infrastructure for our city, offered nothing to our struggling hospitality industry, and chickened out of seeking the new Customs Union with the EU our economy needs. Londoners deserve so much better.”
Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group Hina Bokhari AM added:
"This Budget does nothing for struggling Londoners. No new investment. No funded transport projects. No serious plan to ease the cost of living crisis hitting Londoners harder than anywhere else. Even the long-trailed DLR extension comes with zero actual funding.
“Sadiq Khan has failed to get the support we needed for our city. He promised Londoners we would have the winds of a Labour Government at our backs, yet he has walked away from this Budget empty-handed.”
