Keep London welcoming
The London we love is under threat.
On a daily basis, we see people try to set community against community. We see institutional racism continue to take place. And we see the London we love come under threat from cynics.
My plan of action
I will keep London the most welcoming city on Earth.
My pledge to you
As Liberal Democrat Mayor, I will focus on:
- Speak out against extremism and racism in all its forms
- Help EU citizens prove their status
- Tackle institutional discrimination in the Met Police
This means:
- Introducing a “London Passport” to help EU citizens by providing legal support for their right to remain in the UK.
- Introducing the Mayor’s first ever London Wellbeing Strategy.
- Continuing to provide free school meals for primary school children.
- Lobbying to reverse the Conservatives’ regressive switch to First-Past-the-Post for mayoral elections, and bring in proportional representation by Single Transferable Vote for all other elections.
- Ensuring Deputy Mayors are appointed on the basis of skills for the job, not political party.
