Tom Brake: McDonnell must put money where his mouth is on People's Vote

Responding to further comments made by Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell this morning that Labour are moving towards backing a people's vote, Liberal Democrat Brexit Spokesperson Tom Brake MP said:

"At this rate, Labour will end up backing a People’s Vote long after we have left the EU. Continuous inaction and dithering from the Labour leadership has aided and abetted this Brexit mess.
 
"Liberal Democrats have led the fight for an exit from Brexit. That’s why we are seeking to secure cross-party support for an amendment calling for a People's Vote, with the option to stay in the EU.
 
"It is time for McDonnell and co to put their money where their mouth is. It is time they backed their own Labour policy and delivered a People's Vote."
