Caroline Pidgeon has responded to the result of the London Mayor and Assembly Elections.
"I am happy to be reelected to the Assembly and encouraged by the Mayoral result as we know that it will will take time to rebuild the party. These are our first steps back and I am happy to have substantially increased the Party's total number of votes in London.
"I will continue to campaign and hold the next Mayor to account so that we will have more homes built in London, more police on the streets and a transport system that everyone can afford.
"Liberal Democrats have always punched above their weight in the London Assembly, and will continue to do so. Despite what the pundits thought, the Liberal Democrats have not gone away and we fight on. For London the next challenge is make sure we remain at the heart of the European Union. That is a fight I and the Liberal Democrats will be leading."
