** Update - we now have 4 speakers for our second meetup - see below **
** We have sold out of this meetup - but have announced a new event here **
For those who were inspired to join the Lib Dems to maintain a voice of modern, liberal reason in an increasingly polarised British politics. Primarily, this is for the newbies following the May 2015 general election but all welcome.
Since we were overwhelmed by demand for our first London LibDem Newbies Meetup, we’ve decided immediately to hold this follow-up. This event will be a chance for new Liberal Democrat members in London to meet fellow newbies and to hear some words of encouragement and advice from three excellent speakers:
Rob Blackie has stood for the Lambeth & Southwark London Assembly seat and runs the LibDem Digital Campaign Group - here are Rob's very handy hints for all LibDem newbies. Rob will talk about his first-hand experience of campaigning in the digital age, from his experience of the Barack Obama campaign in the US.
Anood Al-Samerai is the Liberal Democrat Councillor for Riverside Ward and leader of the Lib Dem council group in Southwark. Anood will talk about what it means to be a Liberal, and why this is so important.
Amna Ahmad was the Lib Dem PPC for Streatham and first time candidate in 2015, so can give us a first-hand account of the election.
*NEW* Stephen Knight is a Lib Dem London Assembly Member and former leader of Lib Dems on Richmond Council and can give us an update on London issues
Since we are still facing demand for these events, we are currently planning a third Newbies Meetup - watch this space if you have not managed to attend either of the first two.
