Why I, a Lib Dem, have Mahatma Gandhi as my black hero:
* campaigned against the mighty successfully and peacefully for democracy for people of colour
* inspires peaceful protesters round the world
* stood up for the victims of the system - the poor here on the British mainland and the victims of caste in India.
