Lib Dems' Unlimited "Hopper" Bus Fare policy starts this month

Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member and the party’s London spokesperson, commenting on Sadiq Khan’s announcement that the Hopper bus fare will start to take unlimited trips within an hour from later this month said:

“Lib Dems have been campaigning for a 1-hour bus ticket for a decade. Londoners and visitors to the capital will this month start benefiting from a Lib Dem policy finally being delivered.

“This will make bus travel more attractive which is desperately needed in getting more people to use London buses. It will also help people who have no choice but to switch buses as part of their journey. It is a policy that Boris Johnson refused to implement leading to millions of people losing out."

But London Assembly Member Pidgeon added, “Sadiq Khan’s overall commitment to freezing fares for four years faces many challenges due to a triple whammy of rising inflation, falling passenger numbers and the Government ending its grant to TfL. Sadiq Khan will in the years ahead face increasing difficulties in maintaining much needed investment in London’s transport network and sustaining his fare freeze policy."
