Ben Mathis is seventh on the London Assembly list.
Ben grew up in the Black Country, moving to London in 2000 and has lived in Hackney since 2009.
As a keen amateur naturalist, Ben is passionate about the environment, particularly in his own local patch in the Lea Valley where water pollution and illegal dumping can have catastrophic effects on wildlife and local people.
After spending a total of seven years working in the transport sector – and as a recent cyclist – Ben’s focus is often on the small improvements we can make to local connections and facilities to make it easier to get around London on foot, bike or public transport.
Ben led the Lib Dem presence at LGBT Pride for several years and is concerned about the rise in homophobic, biphobic and transphobic attacks in London. If elected, Ben will work to put equality issues of all kinds at the heart of what City Hall does – paying special attention to issues around hate crime, inclusive education, HIV and sexual health services.
