This is a new post, funded by the English Liberal Democrats, and managed on behalf of London Region by the Association of Liberal Democrat Councillors (ALDC).
You will be responsible for helping boost Liberal Democrat activity across London, in particular in those local parties who have, as yet, few or no elected Councillors. You will support our London Development Officer in working with current and potential election candidates and activists to develop their confidence, skills and capacity.
There is a specific emphasis for this postholder to increase the diversity of our candidates and activists so that we look more like the communities we wish to represent.
The post is 2 days per week and you will be home based. An amount of travel around London will be required, including evening and weekend events. From time to time attendance at events outside London, including ALDC events, will be required.
The post will be paid at the rate of £25,000 p.a. pro-rata for 2 days per week for a fixed term from a start date to be mutually agreed in September 2020, to 31st December 2020. The region wishes to continue the post into 2021 if funds can be secured.
To support and assist our London Development Officer in delivering his objectives to grow London campaign activity by:
- Working with local parties to ensure that have a more diverse group of council candidates standing and councillors elected in London’s 2022 local elections.
- Assist with developing and extending our programme of training events and, on occasion, to deliver training.
- Provide local teams with guidance on where existing training events, including ALDC’s Kickstart and Party Conference Training or resources such as online training can be accessed.
- Help local parties develop the skills and processes to find potential new campaigners and engage with them to secure their active involvement.
