Caroline blasts Boris's bungling of police contracts

Research from Caroline Pidgeon has unearthed how the Met has wasted more than £100 million in bungled contracts.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson was forced to admit in answering questions that the Met Police has spent more than £100 million on 37 technology projects that have been either stopped or need to be urgently corrected.

Caroline Pidgeon said:
“It appears that some serious errors have been made in a number of procurement decisions by senior people."

£100 million is enough to pay for an extra 2,000 officers a year.  Attempting to hide the financial costs of contracts that have had to be fixed or stopped is ultimately not serving the public.

"The police will only start to make far better use of technology in the future if it comes clean over its past mistakes. It is a shame that under Boris' 8 year watch, the Met has become such a wasteful organisation. "
